SAN DIEGO -
Kallie Caldwell scored a goal and assisted on another to help lead the Point Loma women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over rival Azusa Pacific on Tuesday (Sept. 25).
This was the sixth straight win for the Sea Lions who remained perfect in PacWest play at 4-0-0 (6-1-0 overall). The loss drops the Cougars to 3-5-0 and 2-2-0 in the PacWest.
Kallie Caldwell broke the 0-0 tie in the 39th minute when she converted on a penalty kick. She would then assist on a goal by
Amanda Mitchell in the 54th minute to extend the Sea Lions' lead to 2-0.
"I am really proud of the women; they did what they needed to get the win," said PLN U head coach
Tim Hall. "That second goal was beautiful off a set play."
Tiffany Kracy posted her third shutout of the season in the contest. She made three saves.
"Defensively we played well all game," noted Hall.
The women's soccer team will now take to the road to face Dixie State in a battle of two of the top soccer programs in the PacWest on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 12:30 p.m.
"It feels great but there is a long ways to go," Hall continued. "It's a long season and we are in for a battle. We are taking it one game at a time."
