A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Point Loma improved to 10-7-1 on Saturday Nov. 16 with a 4-0 win over Bethesda in the first round of the NCCAA West Regional. The Sea Lions cruised past the flames, dominating play from start to finish. Freshman
Dottie Rhoten scored her sixth goal of the season, and seniors
Leah Porter,
Codi Cameron and
Kaycie Hanlin each added a goal in their final career home game.
Rhoten leads the team with six goals on the season, followed by
Natalie Swift, who has found the net five times this year. Junior
Claire Mathews has five assists to lead the Sea Lions, followed by Porter and Swift with four apiece.
A LOOK AT THE COUGARS:
Azusa Pacific (12-2-1) finished first in the PacWest this season with a 10-1-1 conference record. Their only loss in PacWest play came against PLNU Nov. 9, when the Sea Lions won 2-0. APU will surely be looking for revenges, and Point Loma can expect another tough matchup.
Before their loss to the Sea Lions, APU had not condeced a goal since Sept. 21, a span of 917 straight minutes. Almazan tied for third in the conference with eight goals this season, while Natalie Nick and Haley Fisher each tied for fourth in assists (four). Goalkeeper Sarah Klinkenberg led the PacWest with a 0.29 goals against average and .920 save percentage.
