Â
In fact, Azusa Pacific failed to register a single shot on goal the entire game, managing just six shots total. Point Loma fired 11 shots, three of which were on goal.

Freshman
Ariel Oriarte notched her first career shutout in just her second start at PLNU. Oriarte went largely untested thanks to nearly flawless defense from the Sea Lions' back line.
Â
Before kickoff, PLNU's six seniors were honored alongside their families:
Jessica Van Loo,
Madi White,
Codi Cameron,
Leah Porter,
Kaycie Hanlin and
Carly Rivera.
Â
The game remained scoreless for most of the first half, though the Sea Lions controlled the PacWest champions from the start.
Â
Three minutes before the half, the Sea Lions finally broke through.
Sydney Dreves sent one of her famous long throws into the box. Van Loo gave the ball a flick up into the air, and Swift knocked in the volley to end the Cougars' streak of 917 minutes without conceding a goal.
Â
In the 66th minute, Cameron took the ball down near the right corner and fired the ball in front of the goal. Mathews flew in and guided the ball home for a 2-0 lead. The Sea Lions nearly added another score with just a few minutes to play, but it was disallowed by a foul.
Â
Point Loma will have a week off before hosting the first round of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) West Regional Saturday Nov. 16. The Sea Lions will take on Bethesda at 11:00 a.m. on the PLNU Soccer Field.
