SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma women's tennis team eyed an upset of No. 25 nationally ranked Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday (Mar. 30) as the Sea Lions started the match but taking doubles, but the power of the Golden Eagles proved to be too much as CSULA earned the 6-3 victory.

The win puts CSU Los Angeles at 7-8 on the season and moves PLNU to 6-12.

The Sea Lions opened the match with Maika Adair and Sharon Reibstein picking up a point at No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Wileen Chiu and Kiersten Steinhauer then picked up another point for PLNU at No. 2 doubles with an 8-5 win over Tiffani Shaik and Jill Sangria.

The match then moved to singles play where the Golden eagles proved to be too much for the Sea Lions. PLNU picked up its only singles point at No. 6s where Steinhauer knocked off Samantha Sismundo 6-2 and 7-5. Reibstein pushed her opponent to a third set but dropped that final set 7-5.

The PLNU women's tennis team will be back on the court Tuesday, Apr. 2 as they host Concordia at 4:00 p.m.
