PHOENIX - Tyler Garkow threw a complete game and Lucas DiCiccio went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored to lead the Point Loma baseball team to a 7-4 win over Grand Canyon in the series opener on Thursday, Mar. 7.

This was the third straight win for PLNU which evened its season record at 8-8. The Sea Lions are now 6-3 in the PacWest. This was the first conference loss of the season for the 'Lopes which dropped to 9-5 on the season and to 4-1 in the PacWest.

Every member of the Sea Lions' starting lineup got a hit as they pounded out 12 hits and seven runs. DiCiccio and Kyle Desimone got PLNU the early lead as they belted back-to-back homers in the top of the second inning. He would be part of another two-run inning in the fourth as he lead off the inning with a double and came around to score on a single by AJ Derr. Clinton Harwick would add a two-run triple in the seven to put PLNU up 7-3.

Garkow (4-1) earned his four win of the year by allowing just nine hits and four runs (three earned) in his third complete game of the season. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. He retired the last seven batters he faced in order.

These teams will continue their series on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. (PST).
