OAHU, Hawaii - It might not have all gone right for the Point Loma women's tennis team at the Pacific West Conference Championships, but they will head into the offseason on a positive note as it defeated Dominican 5-3 in the seventh place match on Saturday, Apr. 20.
The Sea Lions jumped out to an early lead by sweeping doubles.
Maika Adair and
Sharon Reibstein teamed up to win at the No. 1 spot 8-4.
Hope Penner and
Preethika Venugopal collected another team point for PLNU at the No. 2 doubles position with a dominating 8-1 win.
Wileen Chiu and
Kiersten Steinhauer closed out the sweep of the doubles points with an 8-6 win at No. 3s.
PLNU would finish off the Penguins in singles play with 6-0 and 6-0 sweeps by Venugopal and
Kirsty Mountain at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
The Sea Lions end the season with a 10-16 record.
