LAST HOME SERIES:The 2014 baseball season has gone by in a flash. The Sea Lions will play their final home series this weekend against Academy of Art on May 2-3. PLNU and ART U will play doubleheaders on both Friday and Saturday starting at Noon. Saturday, the Sea Lions will honor its nine seniors with a ceremony between games.

SENIOR SENDOFF:In between games on Saturday, PLNU will honor its nine seniors with a ceremony on the field prior to the first pitch. The Sea Lions will salute

Clinton Harwick,
Garret Levsen,
Mike Marcoux,
Tyler Nordgren and
Sebastian Santos who will all be playing their final home game at Carroll B. Land Stadium.
A LOOK AT POINT LOMA:The Sea Lions are 21-24 on the season and locked into sixth place in the Pacific West Conference standings with a 12-16 record. PLNU is looking to win its first series since March, after they dropped all three in April.
Tyler Nordgren leads Point Loma and ranks eighth in the PacWest with a .352 batting average. His 41 RBI and 16 doubles have him ranked second and third in the league, respectively. He is also sixth in home runs (four), walks (23) and total bases (80).
Clinton Harwick is ninth in the league with a .351 batting average. He is fifth in the PacWest with 61 hits, sixth in stolen bases with 14 and 10th in runs scored with 33. As a team, PLNU leads the PacWest with 180 walks.
On the mound,
Kellen Sheppard paces the Sea Lions with a 2.85 ERA. He is 4-4 during his freshman campaign. Senior
Garret Levsen leads the team with five wins (5-3) and four complete games. He has a 3.28 ERA this season as a starter. Five different Sea Lion pitchers have recorded a save this season, including
Brett Carlile and
Kevin Lillicrop who both have two under their belt.
A LOOK AT ACADEMY OF ART:The Urban Knights are 11-33 on the season and 6-22 in the PacWest. They enter the weekend looking to snap an eight-game losing streak after they were swept in their last two series by California Baptist and Fresno Pacific.
Chucky Cavestany leads ART U with a .331 batting average. Lyle Brackenridge has the most hits and extra base hits on the team with 46 and 15, respectively. First baseman Daniel Skinner is the team's leading RBI man with 17.
PLAYOFF PUSH:Point Loma is still pursuing the opportunity to play in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) playoffs this year. The Sea Lions are seeking a bid into the NCCAA West Regional. To qualify PLNU must finish the 2014 season with a .500 or better record and be one of the top two teams from the West in the NCCAA national rankings.
