PLNU Women's Golf capped off an impressive fall season with a pair of second-placed finishes last week in Hawaii, earning the Sea Lions PacWest Team of the Week recognition.
Â
At the HPU Shark Shootout Oct. 25-26, PLNU placed second out of 16 teams after posting an overall team score of 591 with rounds of 296 and 295.
Â
Then on Friday and Saturday, the Sea Lions backed that up with another second-placed finish but this time on the heels of a strong second round of 293. Point Loma began the day in sixth position out of 16 teams but improved its first-round score by 10 strokes to claim a second-straight runner-up finish.
Â
PLNU finished as the top PacWest squad at both tournaments, with Cal State San Marcos being the only team to shoot better than the Sea Lions in either tournament.
Â
Point Loma, the 2021 PacWest champions, staked its claim as one of the favorites to win the conference championship come April.
Â
After finishing the fall portion of their calendar, the Sea Lions will return to competition in the spring, Feb. 27-28 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in Alameda at Corica Park Golf Course.
