(CLAREMONT, Calif.) PLNU Track & Field placed second out of 13 teams at the Rossi Relays on Saturday in the team's first meet of the season.

Katherine Heekin (pole vault) and
Anessa Chirgwin (discus) both won individual events in what was a strong opening meet for the Sea Lions.

Heekin's vault of 3.65 meters moves her into sixth place in program history, while Chirgwin's mark of 47.30 meters is just behind her program record in the event and is an NCAA qualifying mark. Chirgwin's best throw on the day was three meters further than second place and currently leads NCAA Division II.

Lillian Gomez,
Blanca Granados,
Madelynn Worley and
Brynn Celani finished second in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 48.67 seconds.

Worley (third place – 12.24 seconds), Gomez (sixth place – 12.66 seconds) and Granados (eighth place – 12.71 seconds) all finished in the top-eight in the 100 meters out of 45 runners. Worley improved her personal-best by .03 seconds to move up to fifth place all-time in the event in program history.

Reagan Cole placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.86) while
Aubrie Nex crossed the 3,000-meter finish line in 9:54.42 to finish third. Nex now ranks fourth in program history in the event.
Eva Koutelieris and
Peyton Yoshida both cleared 3.50 meters in the pole vault, finishing third and fourth in the event, as Yoshida tied her personal-best mark.
