Peyton Yoshida repeated as conference pole vault champion on day one of the PacWest Track & Field Championships in Santa Barbara.
Â
Yoshida and teammate
Eva Koutelieris (second place) both cleared 3.77 meters on their third and final attempts at the height, leaving the PLNU pole vaulting duo as the only two remaining in the competition.
Â
When neither surpassed the next height, Yoshida won the tiebreaker over Koutelieris for taking fewer overall attempts.
Â
Â
Both Yoshida and Koutelieris set new personal bests and are now tied-for-third in program history in the event with their NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
Â
Brianne Camarena (sixth place) and
Danielle Gould (eighth place) both cleared 3.57 meters in the pole vault, as the Sea Lions claimed four of the top-eight spots in the event. Gould's mark moves her up into a tie-for-eighth in PLNU pole vault history with Camarena.
