(SAN DIEGO) PLNU Women's Basketball has hired Juliette Caughey as an assistant coach ahead of the 2025-26 season, Head Coach
Charity Elliott announced.
Â
Caughey comes to The Point after spending two seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Jessup University.
Â
"We are so excited to welcome Juliette to the Point," Head Coach
Charity Elliott said. "She's someone that has been on my radar for a while and we've been in contact for a couple of years so when our position came open, she was the first person that came to my mind."
Â
During her two years as an assistant at Jessup, Caughey helped the Warriors break the single-season school wins record (22) in 2023-24 and make an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
Â
Â
"She is a person of tremendous faith and character and is in complete alignment with the mission of Point Loma and our program," Elliott said. "She will be an awesome mentor and example to our players and I'm excited for them to get to know her and learn from her."
Â
As a student-athlete at Jessup, Caughey played in 100 games across her four-year career while also excelling in the classroom as an NAIA and GSAC Scholar-Athlete. She also earned the GSAC Cliff Hamlow Champion of Character award.
Â
"She had a great playing and coaching career in this conference so her familiarity with this level and California recruiting is going to be a wonderful contribution to our staff," Elliott said of Caughey. "With her addition to our current Associate Head Coach,
Grace Ricafranca, I believe we have a staff that first and foremost will be an example of servant leadership to our team and will continue to lead and propel PLNU Women's Basketball to even greater heights."
Â
Point Loma is coming off back-to-back NCAA West Regional appearances, including last year when the Sea Lions won their first ever PacWest regular season and tournament titles.
Â
"I'm excited to jump in with the team and staff and get to work as we prepare for the season both with our hearts and with the X's and O's," Caughey said. "I'm looking forward to meeting more of the staff here at Point Loma and hearing stories as to why they chose to be here at this university."
