Maddie Dahms slammed down 15 kills to lead NAIA No. 17-ranked PLNU over The Master's 3-0 Saturday afternoon (25-10, 25-21, 25-15). The win ended a three-game losing skid for the Sea Lions.
PLNU (16-6, 6-6 GSAC) hit .268 and held the Mustangs to a negative hitting percentage (.062). Dahms was the lone player on either side of the net to post double-figure winners, though she got help from
Tabitha Henken (eight kills, nine digs).
The Sea Lions dug out 13 more balls that did TMC (43-30) and had six blocks to just two from the home team. Four of PLNU's blocks came from
Chelsea Joanou.
Nicole Eiler had a team-high 14 digs;
Kylie Morel contributed 19 assists, nine digs and two aces.
Ashley Romberg aided the cause with four aces.
Tanya Bekendam led TMC (9-13, 1-11 GSAC) with six kills.
PLNU ran away with the opening set and sealed the deal by rolling off the last nine points. The second set was much closer and was knotted at 21-21 before the Sea Lions closed things out with four straight points with Romberg serving.
Set three was more like the first, PLNU leading by eight early before pulling away with the 10-point triumph.
On Tuesday the Sea Lions host No. 2-ranked California Baptist for a conference match that starts at 7:00 pm.
