SAN DIEGO -- Point Loma took The Master's college for a ride, winning 9-0 in a conference match Saturday on home courts.
Doubles started off the match strong and Loma kept it going through singles.
Rachel Owens and
Jessica Kwan on court one and
Kiersten Steinhauer and
Wileen Chiu on court two both won 8-1. Court three saw
Hope Penner and
Kolbie Kiefer squeak by in their match 8-6.
Singles continued the run with
Kristin Strimple winning 6-0, 6-0 on court one.
Maika Adair was bumped up to court two and she won her match 6-2, 6-2 as did Penner on court four. Chiu took court three with a final score of 6-2, 6-0 while Steinhauer played court five and won 6-1, 6-1.
The only split set of the day was Kiefer who won the first set 6-1, lost the second 1-6 and managed to close the ten point tie breaker 10-8.
"After a week off it was great to see the girls come back strong and we are ready to take on the second half of the season," said head coach Rich Hills."This is good because there are some tough matches are coming up"
Loma's record stands clean with 7-0 overall and 5-0 in GSAC while the Master's slip to 3-7 overall with 2-5 in GSAC. Loma's next match is at home against Lewis-Clark State on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The next conference match is against Azusa Pacific on Friday. IIt's also at home and also at 4 p.m.
