Sea Lions welcome in Stags on Tuesday

PLNU takes on CMS in a non-conference matchup on Nov. 20th

WHAT'S HAPPENING:
The Point Loma men's basketball team will welcome in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday, Nov. 20 for a non-conference game starting at 7:00 p.m. This will be the second game in a four-game homestand for the Sea Lions leading into their first year in the Pacific West Conference.  Tickets are still available for the CMS game. The tickets are $7 for general admission and $5 for non-PLNU students and seniors.

FOLLOW ALONG:
All Point Loma home basketball games will be available for fans to through video stream, audio stream and live stats. Fans can access the game through the Sea Lions' website at www.plnusealions.com and clicking on the corresponding link on the right side of the page. A LOOK AT THE SEA LIONS:
Point Loma is 1-2 on the season and 0-1 at home. PLNU opened the year with a 1-1 road trip back East. The Sea Lions fell in the season opener to the No. 3 team in Division II, Alabama Huntsville, before responding with a 61-51 win at Trevecca Nazarene. PLNU then hosted Northwest Nazarene for Homecoming on Saturday (Nov. 17) and fell 53-36.

PLNU has held opponents to under 60 points in all three contests and to just 54 points a game. The Sea Lions are also limiting opponents to 37 percent shooting, including just 27 percent from behind the 3-point line. Arren Wells is averaging 7.3 points and 5.7 rebounds as a freshman to lead the team in both categories. Fellow freshman Sam Okhotin is tied with Wells for the team-lead with 7.3 ppg. Okhotin also leads the team with four 3-pointers made on the season. Senior Todd Campbell has done a bit of everything for Point Loma early in the season. He leads the team in assists (12) and free throws (seven), while ranking second in rebounds (4.7) and third scoring (6.7 ppg).

A LOOK AT CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS:
The Stags are 0-2 on the season. They lost their opener 89-81 to San Diego Christian and then lost a six-point game to Westmont College (67-61). Jack Grodahl is leading the team with 15 points per game. He has hit five treys and all seven of his free throw attempts on the season. Cody Mivshek is averaging 11 points and a team-best 6.5 rebounds on the season. As a team, CMS is allowing its opponents to shoot 52 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3-point range. The Stags themselves are averaging 71 points, while outrebounding their opponents by an average of 10 boards per game.

NEXT UP:
The homestand will continue with two more game for PLNU men's basketball team. Following a break over Thanksgiving the Sea Lions will return to action on Nov. 28 against San Diego Christian. They will then welcome in Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Dec. 1 to open PacWest play.
