The 2013 season: During their first season as members of the PacWest Conference and second in the transition to NCAA Division II the PLNU men's tennis team went 8-17 on the season. The Sea Lions captured sixth place at the PacWest Championships as they lost their first round match before bouncing back to defeat Hawaii Hilo to move into the fifth place match.

Baldinger, J. Kevelaerts earn Regional awards: Brooks Baldinger and Jakob Kevelaerts of the Point Loma men's tennis team have both named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-West Region second team.

Baldinger, a junior from San Jose, Calif. (Branham HS), played the No. 1 singles spot throughout the season for the Sea Lions. He went 7-13 on the season in singles play and 8-15 in doubles. Six of his seven victories in singles came in straight sets.

Kevelaerts alternated between No. 2 and No. 3 singles player most of the season for PLNU. He went 9-10 in singles play, which included a four match winning streak. Kevelaerts and Baldinger would also team up in doubles the last part of the season and go 4-4.

Success of the West: The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) title came down to a match between two foes from the West Region; Azusa Pacific and Fresno Pacific. APU avenged the lost by its women's team to take the championship match from the Sunbirds 5-3 and win the National Championship. Teams from the West won nine of the 16 NCCAA Championships this year.

Sea Lions place four on PacWest All-Academic team: Kaptan Kaster, Kevin McKelligan, Daniel Milliken and Michael Zablan each earned PacWest All-Academic honors during the 2013 season. To be eligible for PacWest All-Academic honors a student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and qualify as a letterwinner on the varsity team.

PLNU honors its own: Head coach Rich Hills announced the 2013 Point Loma awards at the team's banquet on April 30. Jakob Kevelaerts was named the team's Most Valuable Player, while Daniel Milliken picked up the Sportsmanship award.

Back for more in 2014: Six members of PLNU's 2013 men's tennis squad will be back for the Sea Lions in 2014. Brooks Baldinger, Michael Zablan, Kaptan Kaster, Daniel Milliken, Kevin McKelligan and Dillon Brown will all be back next year of experience under their belt.

Coach Hills resume: Coach Rich Hills has now completed 32 seasons as the head coach of the PLNU men's tennis team. He has a career record of 361-355 during his time as the leader of the Sea Lions men's team.
