A look at the Sea Lions
Point Loma (6-10, 3-5 PacWest) has had a turbulent season thus far. The team has a young nucleus made up of mostly freshmen who have struggled to find consistency. The team's best win of the season came on the road against a tough Biola team when they battled for an impressive 5-set win. They are currently on a 3-game losing streak but hope they can find the same winning recipe to get a win at home over Biola to gather momentum before heading on the road for three straight games.
Sophomore
Cara Keturakis has been a leader on the court this season posting two games where she was just one kill shy of a triple-double. She leads the team with 5 double-doubles on the season and is averaging 9.08 assists per set. Newcomers
Julia Malinas and
Holley Persson have both been great additions for the Sea Lions. Persson leads the conference in digs per set at 5.52 and is also ranked 21
st nationally. Malinas has been the point leader for the Sea Lions all season and leads the conference in aces per game, ranking 11
th nationally. Julia has earned two PacWest Freshman of the Week honors while Holley has earned one Freshman of the Week honor and on Defender of the Week honor.
A look at the Eagles
Biola (9-5, 3-3 PacWest) sits in the top four of the conference in several offensive categories this season. The team is fourth in team hitting percentage (.200), second in assists per set (12.39), and third in kills per set (12.95). Despite their solid numbers the team is only 3-3 in PacWest play to begin the season. The Eagles are coming off a huge win over rival Azusa Pacific who was previously unbeaten in PacWest play. Brinley Beresford, second in the conference with 9.37 assists per set, and Tess Van Grouw, third in the conference in digs per set at 4.97, have been a big part of their successes thus far.
A look at the Sunbirds
Fresno Pacific (6-10, 4-3 PacWest) is in the midst of a seven-game home stand, six of those games being PacWest matches. They have started this stretch 2-0 and will have two more matches before the Sea Lions visit on Saturday. While the Sunbirds' offensive numbers have put them in the middle of the conference rankings, it is their defense that has held their opponents in check. FPU ranks fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.186), fourth in opponent assists per set (10.74), and fourth in opponent kills per set (11.73) within the PacWest. Kylei Dewar leads their teams in points this season with 174.5, she has 125 kills, 22 aces, and 46 total blocks.

After playing at Fresno Pacific, the Sea Lions will continue their road trip playing at Concordia on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. The team will then travel to Dixie State to close out their three-game road stretch on Oct. 21 playing at 3 p.m.
