Sea Lions snap 2-game skid

BOX SCORE

EL CAJON, Calif. – The NAIA No. 14-ranked Sea Lions snapped a two-game skid with a 3-0 win at San Diego Christian Tuesday night. Tabitha Henken and Alyssa Dwyer supplied the firepower with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.

PLNU cruised in the first two sets but had trouble closing out the match in set three. In fact, the Sea Lions trailed the Hawks by five twice in the third before a three-point run late pulled Point Loma even at 18-all. The two crosstown squads traded points and were tied up at 23 until a pair of SDCC errors ended the set and match.

The Sea Lions improved to 14-10 overall, 8-7 in the Golden State Athletic Conference while San Diego Christian fell to 8-16, 1-14 GSAC.

Henken and Dwyer were the lone Loma players with double figure kills, though Maddie Dahms contributed eight winners and Alyssa Pitkin five. Nicole Eiler paced the team with 13 digs followed by 12 from Pitkin and 10 from Henken. Aimee Bird did most of the setting Tuesday, dishing out 27 assists. Dwyer had five total blocks.

Kim McCalmont led the Hawks with 11 kills and 14 digs. Lauren Howard added eight winners.
