Men's golf places 14th at San Diego Challenge

SAN DIEGO - The Point Loma men's golf team posted its best score in the third round of the San Diego Collegiate Challenge with a 23-over 311 on Tuesday (Mar. 12), but the Sea Lions still finished in 14th place with a 54-hole total of 950 (+86).

Oscar Casillas finished with a 225 (+9) to lead the Sea Lions. He registered a 73 (+1) in the third round to post his best score 18-hole score of the tournament. He shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and a 75 (+3) in the second.

Zane Keith also registered his best score of the tournament in the third round as he matched Casillas with a 1-over 73. He finished the San Diego Challenge 14 strokes over par with a 230.

Cole Reese recorded an 82 (+10) in the third round for PLNU's third qualifying score. Jack Koeller returned to action today, after sitting out yesterday due to an injury, to register a 83 (+11) for the Sea Lions' fourth and final qualifying score.

San Diego State won the team championship by three strokes over TCU and Arizona State. The Aztecs finished the tournament with an even-par 864. Jon Rahm of Arizona State won the individual title by two strokes with a 209 (-7).

The PLNU men's golf team will return to action on Mar. 25th at the Cal Baptist Glen Ivy Invitational.
