INDIANAPOLIS - The Point Loma men's golf team placed eighth at the NAIA Classic held at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course on Tuesday, Apr. 9.

Zane Keith was the top finisher for PLNU as he tied for 27th in the 90 person field with a 9-over 153. He shot a 79 (+7) in the opening round and backed it up with a 74 (+2) in the second.

Cole Reese and Nate Wanken were both one stroke behind Keith with a 154 (+10) to tie for 35th. Wanken posted the low round for Point Loma at the tournament with a 73 (+1) in the second.

Oscar Casillas was the fourth finisher for the Sea Lions with a 14-over 158.

As a team Point Loma shaved two stroked from its first round score to post a 306 (+18) in the second round and finish eighth at the NAIA Classic with a 38-over 614.

Our Lady of the Lake was the team champion with a score of 589 (+13). They edged out Grand View by just one stroke. Aaron Flores of Our Lady of the Lake won the individual championship by three strokes with a 4-under 140.

"All in all it was a windy tournament and the guys fought through the conditions," said PLNU head coach Zack Ponder. "We did some good stuff during this tournament and hopefully we can carry that into the PacWest Conference Championships."

Those PacWest Championships will be held Apr. 22-24 in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
