CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. -
Oscar Casillas placed fifth at The Master's College Spring Invitational with a 4-over, 220 to lead the Point Loma men's golf team to a sixth place finish (916, +52) on Tuesday, Mar. 5.
Casillas never dropped out of the top 5 throughout the three rounds on the par-72, Robinson Ranch Golf Course. He posted a 71(-1) in the first round, a 74(+2) in the second and a 75(+3) in the third. He lead the Sea Lions in scoring in all three rounds in addition to the tournament.
Zane Keith gave PLNU another top 25 finisher as he posted a 12-over, 228 to tie for 14th.
Cole Reese placed 27th with a 234(+18) and Wanken registered a 236(+20) to round of the qualifying scores for the Sea Lions.
Jack Koeller was the alternative finisher for PLNU with a 243(+27).
California Lutheran won the team competition with a 24-over, 888. Mikey McGinn of Cal Lutheran took home the individual title with a 2-over, 218 after winning a tiebreaker over three other student-athletes.
The Point Loma men's golf team will be back in action next week at the USD Intercollegiate Invite beginning on Monday, Mar. 11.
