Moment #4: Anessa Chirgwin had perhaps the best freshman year for any thrower in Point Loma track & field history. The freshman from Oregon City, Ore., came to The Point and placed her name on multiple all-time top 10 lists. Her skills in the discus highlighted her accomplishments as she both broke the school record and then topped her own mark in the event just weeks later. Chirgwin initially broke the 22-year old school record at the Bryan Clay Invitational with a throw of 147-8 (45.01m). She then crushed that mark when she posted a throw of 151-11 (46.31m) at the PacWest Championships. Her mark at conference earned her a second-place finish and a PacWest all-conference selection.
