    Men's Basketball, Men's Tennis
During his days at Pasadena College (1963-66), Dave Cox was a two-sport athlete. Throughout Cox’s outstanding college tennis career he consistently played in the number one or two spot with competitive players like Lee Erickon, Pat Robertson and Warren Sapp. He played on the No. 1 doubles team with Erickon and competed very well.

Cox was also an excellent basketball player. At one time he was ranked 14th on the all-time Crusader men’s basketball scoring list. He was named to the All-District team three times and was selected for the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention squad. To be a starter in basketball for three years and a top player in tennis for four years was no small achievement. During this time Cox was selected as the Most Outstanding Male Athlete. In basketball jargon, “he could jump out of the gym.” He was, because of his skill, posted up on the low post and became a scoring machine. He poured out 1,228 points into his career. He averaged 18.2 ppg in his senior season. He also pulled down more than six rebounds a game from the guard position.

Cox attended college at a time before the NAIA recognized Academic All-Americans. His GPA would have qualified him for this status throughout his entire career and he certainly would have made it on the basis of his athletic ability.

Additionally, Cox modeled all the right elements of the Christian life while he was in school. Directly out of school he served the Church in full-time service. He has given his life of leadership to the church as either a missionary or pastor continually.

The award for Outstanding Achievement by an Athlete was presented to Cox by Bob Brower.
