Hall of Fame
Many consider Ken Meguiar to be quite a man of distinction in the sports realm at Pasadena and Point Loma. The numerous contributions that he has made to the university have gone unheralded, though they have made significant impacts on the athletics department.
It began through his personal involvement of sponsoring out-of-season teams that Crusader athletes played on. The teams furnished the opportunity for many of the best athletes to polish their skills at levels of development that otherwise may not have been possible. The quality of the teams, the high caliber of competition and schedules were beyond the school’s financial capabilities without Meguiar’s help. Most importantly, Meguiar served as a player and coach on many of those teams. The personal experience of playing beside and under the guidance of this quiet, confident leader did much to make other players believe in themselves.
The outstanding character of Meguiar can be seen in his continued support of the program. Through two locations, four name changes, several coaches and hundreds of athletes, Meguiar’s loyalty has been steadfast. When business and family responsibilities became too great to maintain this role, his support did not diminish. It was his belief that college teams should be looked upon with first-class pride.
